Top FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the JIVE and the METRO?

A: The main difference between the JIVE and the METRO is that the JIVE is modular and can adapt into a tandem configuration to accommodate two children, while the METRO is a single pram. Other differences include weight, fold and shopping basket size.

Q: Do you sell a double or tandem pram?
A: The JIVE's thoughtful engineering and design allows you to adapt the pram to accommodate two children, so the pram grows as your family grows, all while maintaining the slim and light profile of a single pram.

We sell the JIVE as a tandem (includes stroller, bassinet and second seat), single (includes stroller and bassinet) and also a JIVE Second Seat Conversion Kit, so you can upgrade your single JIVE pram to accommodate two seated children. These are all available on our Pram Accessories page.

The Redsbaby METRO cannot accommodate a second toddler seat. This is due to the way the chassis is designed.

Q: Do you have capsule adaptors available for your prams and strollers to enable a travel system?
A: Yes, all of our prams have capsule adaptors for the Maxi Cosi capsule (Mico, Mico AP and Citi).

Q: Up to what age will my child fit into your products?
A: Weight is the basis for determining whether our products are suitable for your child, rather than your child’s age as weight varies from child to child.

  • The JIVE is independently tested and certified to carry one child up to 20kgs (44.0 lbs).
    • The JIVE second seat is independently tested and certified to carry one child up to 15kgs (33.0 lbs).
  • The METRO is independently tested and certified to carry one child up to 20kgs (44.0 lbs).

Q: What are the weights and dimensions of your products?
A: Full details of the product weights and dimensions can be found by clicking on the links below:

Q: Do you sell a toddler skateboard or platform for your prams and strollers?
A: Yes, our Buggyboard can be secured to the rear frame axle on the JIVE and METRO.

Q: Are your prams and strollers suitable to use for newborns (from birth)?
A: Yes, the Redsbaby JIVE and METRO are available with bassinets.

Q: Are your bassinets suitable for overnight sleeping?
A: There are no Australian safety standards for bassinets, and as a result, we cannot claim that in Australia the bassinet is 'approved for overnight sleeping'. You should always follow the guidelines recommended by SIDS for the safe sleeping of your child. As part of the Australian Safety Standards, we must recommend that you never leave your child unattended in either the bassinet or seat when using a Redsbaby product.

Q: When should I transition my child from the bassinet to the seat in my JIVE or METRO?
A: We recommend you transition your child from the bassinet to the seat when they reach the weight limit of 9kg (20 lbs), are 6 months of age, or when your child can sit up unaided (whichever occurs first). If you feel that your child needs to transition to the seat before either of these three milestones have occurred, you can do so using the seat in the flat position.

Q: Are the materials on your prams and strollers washable?
A: Yes, most fabric components of our prams and strollers are washable. Every fabric item on the pram/ stroller has an individual care label which provides care instructions for that piece. Please follow these care labels carefully.

Q: Up to what age will my child fit into your products?
A: Weight is the basis for determining whether our products are suitable for your child, rather than your child’s age as weight varies from child to child.

  • The JIVE is independently tested and certified to carry one child up to 20kgs (44.0 lbs).
    • The JIVE second seat (Tandem) is independently tested and certified to carry one child up to 15kgs (33.0 lbs).
  • The METRO is independently tested and certified to carry one child up to 20kgs (44.0 lbs).

Q: Do you have capsule adaptors available for your prams and strollers to enable a travel system?
A: Yes, all our prams have capsule adaptors for Maxi Cosi capsules manufactured after 2013 (Mico, Mico AP and Citi).

Q: Can I use the JIVE/METRO bassinet in my car?
A: No. The bassinet is not designed for use in your car. In Australia, there is strict national legislation surrounding child car restraints. All children under seven years of age must be secured in a child restraint or booster seat when travelling in a vehicle. For more information on Australian car restraint laws, we encourage you to visit the Roads Authority in your state or territory.

Q: Are the bassinet and seat unit separate items?
A: Yes. The JIVE/METRO bassinet is separate to the seat unit. The bassinet and seat come on their own independent frames, with their own canopies, fabrics and materials.

Q: When should I transition my child from the bassinet to the seat in my JIVE or METRO?
A: We recommend you transition your child from the bassinet to the seat when they reach the weight limit of 9kg, are 6 months of age, or when your child can sit up unaided (whichever occurs first). If you feel that your child needs to transition to the seat before either of these three milestones have occurred, you can do so using the seat in the flat position.

Q: Can I fold the JIVE or METRO with the seat or bassinet attached?
A: Yes. Both the JIVE and METRO can be folded with their seats attached; however, bassinets must be removed prior to folding. The seats must be removed to fold when the JIVE in its tandem configuration due to the necessity for adaptors. When folding your JIVE or METRO with the seat attached, ensure that it is in the forward-facing position in the fully upright position.

Q: The foot rest is in the upward position when I unfold the stroller with the set on, is this normal?

A: Yes, the foot rest will remain in the upward position when the stroller has been folded with the seat on and then unfolded. This design allows the seat to remain on the chassis when you fold it, as the foot rest folds up flat and tucks into the seat for a very compact fold with the seat attached. If you prefer to have the foot rest remain in the downward position, then simply remove the seat prior to folding.

Q: What are the accessories available for my JIVE or METRO?
A: We have a fantastic range of accessories available to enhance your Redsbaby pram. Visit Pram Accessories to explore the full range.

Q: What is the head barrier on the seat?
A: The head barrier serves an important safety function by preventing your child sliding out of the top of the stroller and becoming entrapped in the gap between the handle bar and seat. This is a mandatory safety feature for all strollers and prams sold in Australia that have a reclining seat to an angle greater than 150 degrees (i.e. the flat position). The head barrier must be permanently secured to the stroller, or if removable, require a tool to do so.

The JIVE and METRO both come with head barriers, which are attached to their respective seat units with a zipper that does not have a pull tab. The pull tab has been removed from the zipper to ensure that a child cannot remove the head barrier. We recommend that you leave the head barrier attached at all times; however, if you need to remove it when your child's head approaches the top of the seat, then simply insert a paperclip, bobby pin or safety pin into the zipper head to unzip.

Q: How do I remove the head barrier from the seat unit on my JIVE and METRO?
A: The Redsbaby JIVE and METRO both come with head barriers, which are attached to their respective seat units with a zipper that does not have a pull tab. The pull tab has been removed from the zipper to ensure that a child cannot remove the head barrier. We recommend that you leave the head barrier attached at all times, however if you need to remove it when your child's head approaches the top of the seat, then simply insert a paperclip, bobby pin or safety pin into the zipper head to unzip. Alternatively, the JIVE and METRO's head barrier has also been designed to fold flat against the seat unit, again ensuring that it doesn't interfere with the height limit of your seat.

Q: How many points do your pram/stroller seat harnesses have?
A: Redsbaby prams feature the same 5-point safety harness, meaning that the two shoulder straps, two waist straps and crotch strap all connect at a single centre buckle. Most 5-point safety harness buckles keep the waist straps connected to the shoulder straps once the centre buckle is released. As we are serious about safety, we have used a specially designed buckle that releases all five straps immediately with a one-button release. This ensures the waist straps are disconnected from the shoulder straps every time the buckle is released, preventing any hazardous loops from forming which can create a strangulation risk. This specially designed buckle also makes removing your child from the seat easy, without any arms getting caught in the harness.

Q: What are the weight limits of your products?
A: The weight limit of the JIVE/METRO the bassinet is 9kg (20.0 lbs) and the weight limit of the JIVE/METRO seat is 20kgs (40.0 lbs). The JIVE second seat weight limit is 15kg (33.0 lbs).

Q: What is the tether strap on my handlebar? Do I need to use it?
A: The tether strap is an important safety feature on your pram. We recommend that you secure the tether strap to your wrist at all times while using your Redsbaby pram to prevent it from rolling away.

Care and Maintenance

Q: How do I clean my Redsbaby Pram?
A: To clean the plastic and metal parts of your Redsbaby pram, sponge clean with warm water and a mild detergent and then air dry. Do not use any abrasive or corrosive cleaning products.

Q: Is there any regular maintenance that I need to undertake for my pram/stroller?
A: Yes. We recommend that you regularly (once every 8-12 weeks) spray moving parts such as the wheels and folding mechanism with a silicone lubricant which will keep your Bounce operating at an optimum level. Only use sparingly, as overuse can encourage accumulation of dirt in moving parts. DO NOT use any other lubricant other than those specifically marked as a 'Silicone Lubricant' (for example, DO NOT use WD40) as doing so can deteriorate the plastic parts of your pram and interfere with its structural integrity.

Q: My folding mechanism is stiff and hard to operate. How do I fix this?
A: We recommend you lift the release mechanism and spray a silicone lubricant into the hole on the side of the frame (you can see the hole when you pull the release mechanism towards you). Pull the release mechanism forwards and backwards until it is fully lubricated. We recommend you do this on a regular basis to ensure the release mechanism operates at an optimum level.

Q: How do I care for my air tyres?
A: There are a few general tips provided below that help you understand how to best care for your air tyres:

  • Lower air pressure provides a smoother ride, however will make the stroller slightly more difficult to turn and manoeuvre and also reduces the tread life of your tyre.
  • Do not use a service station pump to inflate your air tyres. The pressure is too strong and can result in bursting the inner tube.
  • Sometimes low air pressure or a flat tyre can be the result of trapped dirt in the tyre valve. Clean the valve by inflating and deflating rapidly to clear any potential dirt from the valve. Reinflate to see whether the dirt was the cause.
  • Heat can affect tyre pressure, especially when your stroller is left in hot environments like your car boot. Take care not to over-inflate your tyre.
  • You can repair punctures using a tyre repair kit. Check our instructions in the below Q&A: ‘How do I identify a tyre puncture?’
  • Tyre tubes are often stocked at cycle or specialist wheel shops, as well as via our website.

Q: How do I identify a tyre puncture?
A: The best way to determine whether you have a tyre puncture and its location is to remove the tube from the tyre, inflate to double the normal tube size and submerge in water. Mark any places on the tube where bubbles emerge. You can repair these holes using a standard tube repair kit. Check the inside of the tyre for any dirt or sharp items that are lodged in the tube and remove if found to help prevent future punctures.
If you find that there are no bubbles that emerge, then ensure that no dirt is trapped in the valve by refitting the tube in the tyre and inflating and deflating several times to help push any trapped dirt out of the valve.

Q: How do I repair a puncture to my air tyres?
A: You can use a tyre repair kit. To identify where a tyre puncture has occurred, follow the steps listed in the above Q&A: ‘How do I identify a tyre puncture?’.

Q: To what PSI should I inflate my air tyres to?
A: The correct tyre pressure is essential to maintaining and experiencing your stroller. The correct pressure will be clearly marked on the rim of your wheel. Check before inflating.

Shipping

Q: What is the shipping cost for prams?
We deliver prams to metro areas for a flat rate of $19.95 using Australia Post. Flat rate $19.95 shipping to metro areas excludes Tasmania and Northern Territory and applies to one pram per order (excludes the Tandem and nursery furniture). Metro areas are determined by postcode, according to Australia Post.

Q: Do you ship your prams internationally?
A: We also sell our products world-wide via distributors. If you're not from Australia and would like to see whether we have a distributor in your country please email us at info@redsbaby.com.au. Alternatively, we may be able to arrange international shipping.

Q: What is the shipping cost for nursery furniture?
A: Currently we ship the PALOMA nursery range to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra metro areas only. The cost is $49.95 per item. The reason why we have been able to offer such competitive pricing is because there are some conditions. Furniture is heavy, large and bulky. A strong, able-bodied person is required to assist the courier with delivery - without this, the driver will not take your furniture off the truck and it will be returned to the depot. You will receive a dispatch email when the items have left our warehouse so you can organise for someone to be at your nominated address for delivery. No authority to leave is offered; however, courier will leave a card with a redelivery option and you can liaise with the service directly to organise this. If a second attempt is made and you are not home, or the address you ave given is incorrect, you will be charged $49.95 per item for re-shipping.

Q: Do you ship your nursery furniture outside of metro areas or internationally?
At this stage, we do not ship nursery furniture outside of Australian metro areas.

LEGACY PRODUCT FAQs

BOUNCE FAQs

Q: Is the Bounce appropriate for exercise such as jogging or running?
A: No. The Bounce is not a jogging or running pram. It is suitable for light walking such as around a shopping centre, around the block or through the park.

Q: Can I fold the Redsbaby Bounce with the seat or bassinet attached?
A: The Redsbaby Bounce can be folded with the seat attached; however the bassinet must be removed prior to folding. When folding the Redsbaby Bounce with the seat attached, ensure that it is in the forward-facing position. We recommend placing the seat in the fully upright position for the most compact fold.

Q: What fabrics are used on the Redsbaby Bounce?
A: The Redsbaby Bounce is primarily made from 600D polyester fabric with a high colourfast rating. Polyester has been selected due to its high durability, ability to withstand the elements, easy cleaning and day-in, day-out use of a baby! Some of the polyesters are UV treated, helping prevent fading when frequently exposed to direct sunlight. The bassinet is also lined with soft cotton for the comfort of your newborn.

Q: Is the seat suitable from birth?
A: No. The Redsbaby Bounce seat is not recommended for use until your child is able to sit up unaided, or until your child is 6 months old (whichever occurs first). If you are purchasing the Redsbaby Bounce for your newborn, we recommend your purchase the Redsbaby Bounce Stroller & Bassinet Set that comes with the bassinet.

Q: What are the Redsbaby Bounce dimensions and weights?
A: You can see all the dimensions, weights and maximum load in the image below. For a larger, PDF version you can click Redsbaby Bounce Specs.

Q: Do you have capsule adaptors available for the Redsbaby Bounce?
A: Yes. We have capsule adaptors for the Maxi Cosi Mico capsule. You can learn more about these here.

MOVE FAQs

Q: Is the Move suitable from birth/ for newborns?
A: Yes. The Redsbaby Move seat reclines to the fully flat position and is suitable for newborns. You can also purchase our Noslip™ Contoured Seat Liner (available in two colours) for extra padding and comfort for a younger child while also protecting your seat.

Q: Is the Move appropriate for exercise such as jogging or running?
A: Strollers which are marketed as running strollers (e.g. the Bugaboo Runner, Bob strollers) are required to meet specific testing requirements for 10km/h+ which translate into a stroller design with three very large, widely set wheels for stability and a front wheel that is fixed and does not swivel. Most parents find these designs quite cumbersome and impractical for any other activities outside of running and do not use running strollers as ‘everyday ‘ strollers.

The Move, like majority of 3-wheelers on the Aussie market (e.g. Baby Jogger Citi Mini, Mountain Buggy Swift etc), has been tested up to 5km/h. While not designed specifically for running or jogging, many parents still use these strollers (including the Move) for this purpose. In addition, the Move has been designed with a front wheel lock, making it suitable for faster-paced exercise and stability over rougher terrain when out and about. This is a good point of difference, as many other 3-wheelers don't have this feature, the front wheel is either fixed or swivel (without a lock).

Q: What are the Redsbaby Move dimensions and weights?
A: You can see all the dimensions, weights and maximum load in the image below. For a larger, PDF version you can click Redsbaby Move Specs.

Q: Do you have capsule adaptors available for the Redsbaby Move?
A: No. Unfortunately we could not design adaptors for this model in its current design to pass the required stability tests. Future models may have adaptors, however these will not be compatible with the existing Move chassis design.

Q: Do you have any videos that I can watch that show the Move in action?
A: Yes, we have a range of videos available on our Move Videos page. The include lifestyle, assembly and daily use videos.

Q: What is the weight limit of the shopping basket?
A: The shopping basket can hold up to 5kg (11 lbs).
